05/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 5 September, the permanent representatives of the member states approved the modalities for Poland's second rule of law hearing, which will take place as part of the EU General Affairs Council on 18 September. No country is opposed to this hearing, which is being organised in connection with the Article 7 procedure, a source stated. The hearing will last for three hours, like that on 26 June (which nevertheless began later than planned). Theoretically, the second hearing will take place in the afternoon. The Commission will be invited to give its assessment of the situation. In July, the Polish authorities accepted the principle of this new hearing that had been requested by the other delegations.
