05/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – The first hearing before the Court of Justice, in the procedure introduced by four MEPs of the Greens Group in the hope of gaining future access to raw data from scientific studies used as the basis for decisions to authorise substances such as glyphosate in the EU, will be held in Luxembourg on 13 September (EUROPE 11800). French MEP Michèle Rivasi made this announcement to the European press on Wednesday 5 September. “We are the only political group to have referred this to the Court”, she said. With this procedure, the Greens hope the Court will state whether transparency rules in force in the EU have been respected in the publication, by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), of just one part of the scientific studies which led, in November 2017, to five-year renewal of the glyphosate authorisation in the EU.
