05/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 4 September, BusinessEurope, the European level employers’ body in the economic sector gave a somewhat bitter response to the internal market and consumer protection committee vote on the two constitutive regulations in the legislative package on products (see EUROPE 12088, 12087), which took place earlier in the week. The press release on the subject of the regulation for ensuring compliance and enforcement of EU legislation explains that “The vote improves the draft but fails to address a number of essential problems”. According to BusinessEurope, this regulation will not counterbalance the lack of uniform implementation of market surveillance across Member States and the automatic validity of market surveillance authorities’ decisions on non-compliance in the other Member States.
