05/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 31 August, the European Commission and Georgia signed a memorandum of understanding concerning macro-financial assistance for €45 million. This aid, which comes on top of IMF support, will help Tblissi to cover some of its external financing needs and support structural reforms in the country. An envelope of €10 million will be provided in the form of donations, the rest in the form of loans. The assistance, to be paid in two instalments, is conditional on compliance with political conditions such as respect for the democratic and rule of law mechanisms, the European institution announced in a press release.
