30/07/2018 (Agence Europe) – In an interview with The Sunday Times on Sunday 29 July, the Italian home affairs minister, Matteo Salvini, advised British Prime Minister Theresa May to get tougher in negotiations with Brussels on Brexit, if she does not wish to be “swindled”. “My experience with the European Parliament tells me that either you impose yourself or they swindle you”, said Salvini, adding that “on some principles, there is no need to be flexible”. The Lega chief considers that there is no objectivity or good faith on the European side. The Italian Deputy Prime Minister nonetheless hopes that negotiations will end well, so that the UK can serve as an example for those leaving the EU. (SP)
