22/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – Several trade union organisations, economic and civil society actors have set up the “Stand Up for the Social Pillar” alliance. A press release from the Social Pillar network on Friday 22 June explained that it will support implementation of the European pillar of social rights, adopted in Gothenberg in November 2017 in response to“the difficulties” in the concretisation of this initiative at the Council of the EU. Its aim is to: encourage the national governments and all the different actors concerned to implement the principles of the pillar by promoting social investment, the social economy and the adoption of appropriate legislation. The alliance is also seeking to enhance communication about the pillar to citizens. The alliance brings together the CECOP-CICOPA Europe, the European Movement, the European trade Union, Social Economy Europe and the Social Platform. (PH)
