22/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for the Internal Market and Industry, Elżbieta Bieńkowska and the Commissioner for Education and Culture, Tibor Navracsics, were in Baveno, Italy, on Wednesday 20 June and Thursday 21 June to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the manifesto behind the creation of the Copernicus terrestrial observation programme. In this regard, Commissioner Bieńkowska referred to the forthcoming launch of the ‘Copernicus Data and Information Access’ (DIAS) services. This platform brings together business leaders that want to contribute to the use of data generated by the programme. The Commission recently announced a budget of €5.8 billion for continuing the programme and modernising it over the next seven years (see EUROPE 12035). (PH)
