29/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 30 May, the European Commission is to propose a review of the November 2009 regulation establishing a Community system for controlling fishing activity. It is expected to suggest, in particular, revising the rules on sanctions in the event of failure of comply with the rules of Common Fisheries Policy (list of infringements described as serious, the introduction of compulsory administrative sanctions and a minimum level of fines, strengthening of the points system for permit holders and captains, and data exchange on infringements and sanctions). The Commission is also expected to propose extending the obligation of having a vessel surveillance system and catch registration to all vessels, including those under 12 metres in length. (LC)
