29/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – G20 countries’ trade in goods rose for the eighth quarter in a row at the fastest rate in two years to reach a new high in the first quarter of 2018, according to figures released by the OECD on Tuesday 29 May. Exports rose by 5.3% and imports by 5.8%. The strongest growth in exports was recorded in Brazil (13.4%), Russia (12.8%), Argentina (12.7%) and China (9.5%). Exports increased more modestly in the G7 countries: 5.5% in the United Kingdom, 4.6% in Germany, 3.3% in Italy, 2.8% in France, 2.7% in the United States, 2.6% in Japan and 1.2% in Canada. All countries saw an increase in imports, the strongest increase being recorded in China (13.7%). (EH)
