EFSA confirms potential danger of hydroxyanthracene derivatives in food complements

On Tuesday 23 January, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) confirmed that a number of hydroxyanthracene derivatives – plant ingredients such as aloe or senna – which are used as food complements, are indeed associated with potential health risks.  Such ingredients can be detrimental to DNA and entail cancer.
