MEPs suggest number of elected members should be reduced to 705 as of May 2019

On Tuesday 23 January, the European Parliament’s committee on constitutional affairs (AFCO) validated the compromise found over the last week by the main political groups suggesting that the number of MEP seats should be reduced from 751 to 705 for the next legislature (see EUROPE 11942).
