Monday 18 September

  • New York (USA). European Council. Address by President Tusk before the United Nations General Assembly meeting from 18 to 20/09.
  • Brussels. European Parliament. Activities of the committees (Commission’s mission to Tunisia to discuss the management of migratory flows and border controls with the stakeholders (18-22/09). – ITRE: mission to Germany to visit research institutes and companies working on the development of hydrogen as an alternative energy source (18/09); visit of a delegation to the headquarters of the ENISA in Greece (20/09). – IMCO: mission to Washington to discuss EU/USA regulatory cooperation in a number of fields (services, standards, public procurement, market access, electronic trade, data protection and the neutrality of the web) with the American administration and stakeholders. – EMPL: mission to Slovenia and Croatia in the context of the drafting of the report on the implementation of the Youth Employment Initiative in the member states, to be voted on in December (21/09). – PETI: mission to Cyprus to follow up local petitions concerning health and environmental problems caused by the creation of the industrial port of Larnaca (20-22/09). – LIBE: hearing on the assessment of anti-drug policy and stock-take on European legislation in this field (25/09)

Tuesday 19 September

Informal meeting of the energy and transport ministers (to 21/09). *Energy:– Reorganisation of the electricity market. *Energy/Transport: – Development of infrastructure and creation of an instrument to bring about the Energy Union and the European single transport space. *Transport: - Connectivity: actions and funding solutions for investments in the trans-European transport network. – Air connectivity in Europe: - Results of the TEN-T and subsequent developments (possible funding).
  • Luxembourg. * Court of Justice of the EU. #Judgments: - C-552/15 (Commission/Ireland – obligation upon a resident to pay the registration tax of a vehicle leased or hired in another member state without the possibility of being reimbursed in the event of not using the vehicle in the member state of residence). #Conclusions: - C-248/16 (Achmea – compatibility with EU law of the arbitration clause included in the agreement between the Netherlands and Slovakia on investment protection).

Wednesday 20 September

  • Brussels. European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). 528th plenary session (and 21/09). – Debate on the citizens’ initiative “Ban Glyphosate!” (20/09). – Debate with the President of the Commission, J-C. Juncker, on the state of the union.

  • Luxembourg. * Court of Justice of the EU. #Judgments: - C-186/16 (Andricluc e.a. – Abusive nature of a loan contract clause providing for the sum borrowed to be paid back in the foreign currency in which the loan was granted). – C-183/16 P (Tilly-Sabco/Commission – request for cancellation of the regulation setting the level of export refunds for poultry meat in July 2013 at zero). – C-125/16 (Malta Dental Technologists Association and Reynaud – possibility to the member states to allow clinical dental prosthesis to act only if the patient has been referred to them by dentist).
