Formal proposals on new fisheries agreement with Mauritius

15/09/2017 (Agence Europe)The European Commission adopted proposals on Friday 15 September on the new protocol to the four-year fisheries agreement between the EU and the Republic of Mauritius (see EUROPE 11779). The protocol provides for fishing opportunities in the following categories: - 40 tuna seiners; - 45 surface long-liners. The annual financial contribution to be paid by the EU is €575,000, based on: - a reference tonnage of 4,000 tonnes, for which an annual amount linked to access has been set at €220,000; - support for development of the sectoral fisheries policy of the Republic of Mauritius, amounting to €220,000 annually; - support for development in the field of ocean economy, amounting to €135, 000 annually.
