Charged with criminal offence by French authorities for its UberPop service, Uber France is wrong, says Advocate General

In conclusions published on Tuesday 4 July (Case C-320/16), Advocate General Maciej Szpunar at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) takes the view that EU member states may prohibit and punish, as a matter of criminal law, the illegal exercise of transport activities in the context of the UberPop service, without notifying the European Commission of the draft law in advance.
