04/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 4 July, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Elia, the operator of the Belgian high-voltage grid, concluded a loan agreement for €100 million with a tenor of seven years for financing the Stevin project. This project includes bringing ashore the wind energy produced at sea and the optimal integration of the future energy-exchange with the Belgian electricity network and the United Kingdom by way of the interconnection currently being constructed by Elia and the British National Grid. These two projects will help integrate major quantities of renewable energy, strengthen integration of the integrated European electricity system and support the reliability of the Belgian electricity system.
