Ahead of the G20 summit in Hamburg, the leaders of the EU – European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker – will meet Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the bilateral EU-Japan summit in Brussels on Thursday 6 July, in the hopes of concluding a political agreement sealing the negotiations for a bilateral free trade agreement. These negotiations were launched in spring 2013.
