On Tuesday 13 June, Emmanuel Macron and Theresa May agreed on a joint anti-terrorist action plan to prevent the spread of jihadist propaganda on the Internet. During a meeting in Paris, the two leaders announced a joint and highly specific action plan to step up the fight against terror, AFP reports.
The two leaders explained that they had been working on this joint project for several days, aiming to reinforce the obligations on Internet operators to take down hate-promoting content.
We are launching a joint Franco-British campaign to ensure that the Internet cannot be used as a safe harbour for criminals and terrorists or hunting ground for radicalisation, said May, on her first trip abroad since the setback of last week's general election.
On Brexit, the French President reiterated his hopes that the negotiations would start as soon as possible, but added that the EU's door remained open should London change its mind. (Original version in French by Solenn Paulic)
