In disputes, states may require mediation before any court proceedings

In disputes involving consumers, EU law does not preclude national legislation which states that mandatory out-of-court mediation should take place before any court proceedings, the Court of Justice of the EU decided in a ruling delivered on Wednesday 14 June (case C-75/16).
