Commission calls for investment in nuclear R&D and new power plants

On Friday 12 May, the European Commission published a revised version of its nuclear indicative programme (NIP) unveiled in April 2016 (see EUROPE 11234) following an opinion formulated by the European Economic and Social Committee in September 2016 (see EUROPE 11632).

The NIP is a requirement stipulated in Article 40 of the Euratom Treaty and is an overview of investment in the EU in all stages of the lifecycle of nuclear power plants. The NIP unveiled in 2016 was the first report on...
