Member states fine-tune Barnier's Brexit negotiations mandate

Member states’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) met on two occasions, on Wednesday 10 and Friday 12 May, to discuss the European Commission’s draft mandate for negotiations on the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the EU, presented by Michel Barnier at the start of May (see EUROPE 11780).

At these two rather brief meetings, two separate sources have indicated, legal clarification was brought but no substantial changes made. A new text will, in any event, be drafted for Monday 15 May and...
