12/05/2017 (Agence Europe) – At the G7 Finance meeting in Bari on Friday 12 May, the Director General of the IMF, Christine Lagarde, called for more clarity over the medium-term Greek debt relief measures that Athens and its institutional creditors may agree upon at the Eurogroup of Monday 22 May. “We will carry on working on this debt relief package. There is not enough clarity yet. Our European partners need to be more specific in terms of debt relief, which is an imperative”, she said, reports Reuters. In late May, the Eurogroup will reiterate its political will to support Greece by further clarifying the measures to ensure the viability of the Greek debt (see EUROPE 11784). No decision to apply these measures will be taken ahead of a precise needs assessment once Athens completes the third bailout plan in mid-2018. (MB)
