15/02/2017 (Agence Europe) – Following the recommendation of its rapporteur Inmaculada Rodríguez-Piñero Fernández (S&D), the European Parliament approved (by 657 votes in favour, 29 against and 14 abstentions) a Council draft decision on Wednesday 15 February concerning the conclusion, on behalf of the EU, of a 2015 protocol amending the annex to the WTO agreement on trade in civil aircraft. With 32 signatories, this agreement removes the import duties on all aircraft (except military) and their components, as well as flight simulators. It is accompanied by an annex that lists the products admitted duty free, classified under their respective customs tariffs in a harmonised description and coding system established by the World Customs Organisation, which was amended in 2007. The 2015 protocol is aimed at transposing these changes in the annex to the agreement. (EH)
