The European Parliament will be voting during the session on 11-14 April in Strasbourg on the personal data protection reform package, as well as the draft directive setting up the European PNR, the system used for collecting passenger data as a means of fighting terrorism. The Conference of Presidents of the EU made the decision to proceed in this way on Thursday 7 April. Left and liberal groups at the EP have been accused of delaying the PNR dossier and were eager to provide assurances that the two "packages" would be voted on at the same time. (SP)
