07/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - European literature rewarded. On Wednesday 6 April, the European Commission announced the names of twelve European Union Prize-winners for Literature 2016. The winners are from Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Germany, Luxembourg, Romania, Slovenia and Spain. The European Prize for Literature (EUPL) was launched by the European Commission in 2009 and is organised with professional publishing bodies and seeks to promote cultural and linguistic diversity in Europe. Every year it rewards twelve new authors from twelve European countries. The awards ceremony will take place on 31 May in Brussels. During this event, each author will receive a prize of €5000. They will also benefit from additional promotion at book fairs in London, Frankfurt and Paris. (SPj)
