29/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - As expected, on Tuesday 29 June, the European Commission launched a new publicity campaign in 23 languages, with the aim of better informing passengers about their rights. The campaign, which for the moment only covers plane and train passengers' rights, will run for two years and will comprise several different phases. It will be updated as new legislation comes into force (the rules governing air passengers' rights are currently being reviewed and an inter-institutional agreement has just been reached those relating to maritime transport). A website has already been set up: http: //ec.europa.eu/passengers-rights. There, the public will find a summary of their rights for each form of transport. Brochures and posters setting out basic rights will also be available in stations and airports. The campaign, which is trying to reach some 500 million passengers, will cost €1 million over two years. (A.By./transl.rt)
