Brussels, 02/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 2 June, the European Commission authorised two acquisitions. Firstly, Severocèskè doly a.s. (SD) and J&T Investment Advisors s.r.o. (JTIA), both under Czech law, will acquire joint control of Dutch company, Mibrag B.V. as well as its German subsidiary Mitteldeutsche Braunkohlengesellschaft mbH. Mibrag and SD are specialised in the extraction of lignite, whereas JTIA is an investment firm. The second acquisition approved on Tuesday concerns the creation of a joint venture between General Electric Company (GE) of the US and Mubadala Development Company PJSC (Mubadala), and investment firm of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The new venture will provide global financial services. Both operations were examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (C.D./transl.jl)
