Brussels, 02/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - According to an Irish Times/TNS mrbi poll published on 1 June, 54% of the Irish electorate now back the Lisbon Treaty, 2% more than two weeks ago. 28% would vote “no”, and 18% of those surveyed were still undecided. Ireland will go to the polls on Friday 5 June to elects its members to the European Parliament. The results in this election, and, in particular, the number of votes cast for the Libertas movement, which so successfully campaigned against the Lisbon Treaty in 2008, will give an indication of how the Irish might vote in the second referendum on the Treaty, expected in September or October.
