Court finds against Commission and OLAF on treatment of two officials under investigation

Brussels, 09/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - In handing over information on the investigation of two Eurostat officials to the press and judicial authorities, the Commission and OLAF acted wrongfully and in such a way that the Community could have rendered liable, the Court of First Instance ruled on 8 July. As a result of this unlawful conduct, Yves Franchet, former Director General, and Daniel Byk, former Director of Eurostat, suffered damage to their honour and reputation, which the Court...
