Romania singled out for national vehicle registration rules

Brussels, 29/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 28 November, the European Commission decided to send a reasoned opinion to Romania, asking it to amend its legislation concerning car registration taxation. The Commission believes that Romanian legislation discriminates against the import of second hand vehicles into Romania because higher tax is levied on imported second hand cars registered in Romania than on second hand cars already in the country.
