Ireland at Court of Justice for failing to transpose directive on training of professional drivers

Brussels, 29/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 28 November the European Commission decided to launch proceedings in the European Court of Justice against Ireland for failing both to transpose the Directive (2003/59/EC) on the training of professional drivers and to notify measures for its implementation.

This directive provides for compulsory initial qualification and periodic training of drivers of certain road vehicles for the carriage of goods or passengers. The directive was adopted to...
