Commission expected to reduce 2008 growth forecasts

Brussels, 26/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Commission is preparing to lower its growth forecasts for Europe for 2008 (the autumn forecasts are due to be published on 9 November), hinted EU Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Joaquin Almunia in a speech in Brussels on Thursday 25 October. The slowdown in growth is due to record high oil prices, rising raw material prices, interest rates at the global level and problems facing the mortgage sector in the United States, he said. In...
