27/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 27 June, the European Commission appointed Loretta Dormal Marino as Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI). She will be responsible for three directorates in charge of rural development policy and the implementation of rural development programmes. Ms Dormal, a 57-year-old Italian, is currently Director at DG Competition with responsibility for controlling state aid in the services industries, a position she has held since July 2003. She will take up her new duties in the coming weeks. (lc)
