27/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 27 June, the Commission approved investment aid to the German shipyard Peene-Werft (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). The aid, which is needed to improve the yard's productivity, amounts to €2 .025 million aid (22.5% of the total investment cost, estimated at €9million) and is the maximum allowed under the Framework on State Aid to Shipbuilding. In January 2007, Germany notified its intention to grant regional investment aid because of the region's poor socio-economic situation. (aby)
