19/06/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission granted clearance for a proposed merger whereby voestalpine AG (Austria) acquires control of the whole of Böhler-Uddeholm AG (Austria) through the purchase of share capital. Voestalpine operates in the steel production and distribution sector, and Böhler-Uddeholm in that of the production and distribution of special steels. The operation was examined according to simplified merger review procedure. (ol)
