07/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - ETNO (the European Telecommunications Network Operators' association), which defends the interests of phone operators at European level, has welcomed the commitment made by mobile phone operators to a voluntary framework for the protection of children who use mobile phones (EUROPE 9360). “This new EU framework shows the relevance of self-regulatory measures and public-private cooperation to address security issues”, the association says in a press release. ETNO, which brings together the main European providers of fixed and mobile innovative broadband services, points out that it has been working for some time on developing measures aimed at ensuring that users, and in particular children, can safely access and surf the net, whatever platform they use.
