Andris Piebalgs says role of nuclear energy should not be overplayed and calls on Europe to take renewables seriously

Brussels, 07/02/2007 (Agence Europe) - The role of nuclear energy is important in guaranteeing security of energy supplies and producing less greenhouse gas but it should not be 'overplayed', said EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs in Stockholm, Sweden, on Tuesday, highlighting the need for cooperation regarding renewables and energy efficiency.
