MEPs express concern about data protection in EU - Polemic surrounds American targeting system that could run counter to PNR agreement signed in October

Strasbourg, 14/12/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, MEPs expressed great concern as, in their view, Member States want to lower data protection standards. To reach their conclusions, MEPs above all refer to the proposal for a 2005 framework decision on the protection of personal data under the third pillar (police cooperation and criminal justice system), which is currently on the table of the EU Council.
