Mandelson still hopes to conclude free trade agreement with South Americans

Brussels, 07/12/2006 (Agence Europe) - Although negotiations have been deadlocked since October 2004, Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson has not given up hopes of concluding a free trade agreement with the Mercosur countries (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela). “We can perfectly well reach an agreement with our South American partners,” he told press on Wednesday (see EUROPE 9322). “We have spent a lot of time and money.
