Equador's complaint to WTO in banana case will make negotiations on FTA more difficult

Brussels, 07/12/2006 (Agence Europe) - The complaint lodged by Equador on 16 November with the WTO (opening of consultation in settlement of disputes) against the European banana import regime (see EUROPE 9308) could complicate talks on a free trade agreement within the framework of an association agreement between the EU and the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Equador and Peru).
