Commission approves proposed acquisition of AOL Germany's internet access business by Telecom Italia

Brussels, 30/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has approved the proposed acquisition by Telecom Italia S.p.A. of the German internet access business of AOL LLC. Telecom Italia is already present in Germany through its wholly owned subsidiary HanseNet Telekommunication GmbH. Although the transaction would lead to some horizontal overlap in internet access services, the Commission concluded that it would significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area...
