Brussels, 14/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has received 59 responses to the consultation it launched on the possible extension of transparency measures contained within directive 2004/39/EC on financial instrument markets (better known as the "MiFID" directive) to financial products other than shares. According to the Commission, the majority of the interested parties took position against this kind of extension to derivative bonds and products, but would not be opposed to an examination of potential self-regulation measures. The Commission is to hear the opinions of the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) and of the group of specific experts. It is to publish a draft report in July 2007, which will be put to consultation in a hearing in September. (mb)
