14/11/2006 (Agence Europe) - GDP grew by 0.5% in the Euro area and by 0.6% in the EU25 during the third quarter of 2006, compared to the previous quarter. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP grew by 2.6% in the Euro area and by 2.8% in the EU25 in the third quarter of 2006, after +2.7% and +2.9% respectively in the previous quarter. During the third quarter of 2006, US GDP increased by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter, after +0.6% in the second quarter. Compared to the third quarter of 2005, GDP grew by 2.9% in the US, after +3.5% in the previous quarter. The Commission's autumn forecasts (EUROPE 9300) are predicting growth in GDP in 2006 of 2.6% in the Euro zone and 2.8% in the EU25. (ab)
