Italians and Russians reach agreement in principle allowing mutual opening of energy markets

Brussels, 22/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - During his visit to Moscow on 21 June, the Italian President Romano Prodi and the Russian President Vladimir Putin reached an agreement in principle based on “reciprocity”, relaunching Italo-Russian cooperation in the area of energy. This could hasten the signature of an agreement between Italian gas company ENI and the Russian producer Gazprom.
