14/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 13 June, the European Parliament approved the proposal allowing the EU to adopt the Protocol on mountain farming attached to the Alpine Convention. The report by Josep Daul (EPP-ED, France) was adopted by 572 votes to 20, with 7 abstentions. The Community has recently signed other protocols (soil protection, energy, tourism), all deriving from the convention on the protection of the Alps, which came into force on 4 April 1998.
