Brussels, 24/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - The public deficits of the Member States fell in 2005, whereas debt levels experienced a new increase in the euro zone as well as in the EU of 25. The public deficit of the euro zone rose from 2.8% of GNI in 2004 to 2.4% in 2005, whilst debt rose by a percentage point (from 69.8% of GNI to 70.8%).
