Brussels, 09/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has proposed to raise the level above which low-level State aid has to be notified. Below the ceiling, which will rise from 10,000 to 150,000 euro, Member States will not have to inform the Commission of public funding. If such funding to a company over a three-year period does not exceed the sum allowed, it will not be deemed to be State aid. Member States have been asked for their comments on this initiative, which is part of the Commission's action plan on State aid (see EUROPE 8963). A wider consultation will be launched between June and November, with the aim of adopting the proposal before the end of the year, so that it could come into force in January 2007.
