09/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 9 March the Council adopted without debate its common position on the amendded draft regulation on harmonisation of technical requirements and administrative procedures for civil aviation. (EUROPE 8846) The Council reached a partial political agreement on the proposal for daily flight times from 13 daytime hours and from 11.45 nigh time hours as appropriate for cabin crew, from a scientific and medical point of view on the consequences of the European Aviation Safety Agency provisions, within three years of entry into force of the directive (EUROPE 8846). In a press release, the European Cockpit Association, ECA said that the number of daily flying hours should be limited to ten during the night and is calling on the European Parliament, which should reach a decision in the second reading, to expect the ASA evaluation a year early.
