Luxembourg,28/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - Belgian Vlaams Belang member Gerolf Annemans reproaches the European Commission for having rejected his complaint against Belgacom and Telenet concerning a breach of competition rules on the broad band internet connection market. He has initiated action before the EU Court of First Instance, calling for the Commission to be compelled to reconsider the complaint. Gerolf Annemans considers that the almost total lack of difference between the Belgacom and Telenet internet prices is “not the result of pure coincidence”. He doubts the Commission's explanation that operators often fix prices in relation to prices set by the market leader. The Belgian representative also states that the Commission is mistaken in doubting the dominant position of Belgacom and Telenet on the Belgian market.
