Brussels, 28/02/2006 (Agence Europe) -President Borrell, met the Head of Arcelor, Guy Dollé, on 27 February. The meeting was made at the request of Mr Borrell as part of his meetings with the interested parties in the Mittal Steel takeover bid of Arcelor (EUROPE 9126 and 9128 on meetings with Lakshmi Mittal and the European Federation of Metalworkers). Josep Borrell indicated that according to Mr Dollé “Arcelor doesn't need Mittal Steel to develop”, whereas Mittal Steel “whose management model, according to Dollé, contains a number of shortcomings on levels of management, social guarantees and environmental protection, needs Arcelor”. According to a press release of 28 February Mr Borrell, said that Mr Dollé “explained to me that today he would be beginning a new visit to investors and shareholders in an effort to convince them not to sell to Mittal Steel”.
