Contradictory signals from Warsaw over VAT - Austrian Presidency and Commission 'leave door open'

Brussels, 31/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - On its website on 30 January, the Polish finance ministry indicated that it had rejected the deal on cut-rate value added tax (VAT) but on Tuesday afternoon, Polish finance minister Zyta Gilowska softened her country's line by saying she was prepared to negotiate a compromise.
